Both Quarterbacks Played Well
Entering the spring game, quarterback play was a huge concern for LSU Nation. It seems strange for a team that recruits as well as LSU, but Les Miles has not been able to bring a truly great quarterback to LSU in a while. Even Zach Mettenberger, who is now playing on Sundays for the Tennessee Titans, was a mere sixth round draft pick. For LSU to improve in 2015, good quarterback play is of the highest importance.
If nothing else, Saturday’s game revealed LSU now has two competent quarterbacks to choose from. Both Anthony Jennings (13 for 20 for 242 yards and two scores) and Brandon Harris (11 for 17 for 178 yards and two scores) played better than anticipated.
Both quarterbacks seem to be mastering Cam Cameron’s offense, and both were able to complete deep balls to LSU’s talented receivers. Right now, it appears Jennings is in the pole position to start in 2015, although Harris is not far behind. After 2014’s anemic passing offense, having two competent quarterbacks on the roster who can execute the offense is a problem Les Miles and the coaching staff are undoubtedly happy to have.
