No Go-To Receiver Emerged

Whoever becomes the starter at quarterback for Longhorns in 2015 will need a solid complement of receivers to throw the ball to. And while none of the Texas receivers were truly spectacular on Saturday, there is hope that this group will improve in 2015 and help out whoever is leading the offense on opening day at Notre Dame.

First, the good news. Both Armanti Foreman and Jacore Warrick played well: Foreman hauled in six passes for 77 yards, while Warrick caught three for 41 yards. But, neither wideout found the end zone during the game, which is a cause for concern heading into summer workouts and the fall. Dorian Leonard could have had a better game than his three for twenty yards performance, but he dropped three passes.

Daje Johnson, unfortunately, had a case of the dropsies, suffering two fumbles. One of those fumbles, caused when he was absolutely annihilated by Malik Jefferson, was returned for a touchdown. If Johnson hopes to play a larger role in the Longhorns’ 2015 plans, he must cut down on the miscues, especially those that cost his team points.
