2. Receivers step up
Receiver was a huge question mark for the Crimson Tide. Not only was the unstoppable Amari Cooper bound for the NFL, but DeAndrew White and Christion Jones also finished their collegiate careers last season.
Alabama needed to fill those holes. The sooner receivers stepped up the easier it would be for all the quarterbacks. On Saturday, two receivers showed that they could be dependable targets in the upcoming season.
ArDarius Stewart caught 8 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Stewart led all receivers in receptions and he was the only player in the game to score multiple touchdowns.
As good as Stewart’s stats are, Robert Foster might be better. This was Foster’s second successful A-Day outing, and this time he should start the season as one of the first team receivers now that Cooper and White are gone. Foster led all receivers in receiving yards, taking his six catches a total 125 yards.
Foster did not finish with a touchdown, but he came close to scoring at least once. Foster looks like he could step in and produce today. It is unlikely that he will replace Cooper’s production by himself but he could be a force to be reckoned with come game time.
