Backup quarterback competition Dormady’s to lose?

Josh Dobbs is the unquestioned starter on this team and the dual-threat could be this year’s version of Dak Prescott who takes a sizeable leap in his production and leadership to lift Tennessee to a couple of upset wins. Dobbs fared well on 5-of-8 passing for 94 yards and a touchdown, but the job to be his backup should be a good competition into the fall.

Quentin Dormady looks like he has the best shot at the backup job after completing 5-of-11 passes for a game-high 96 yards and had a 65-yard touchdown pass to Josh Malone and he wasn’t sacked at all on a day when Dobbs was sacked four times and Jajuan Jennings was sacked once.

“Marked improvement. I thought for Quentin, from practice one to practice fifteen, continued to develop, Jones said, via the school’s official website. Somedays larger steps than others, but there was still an incline of moving up. I thought he did a very good job today of managing the offense, showing some collective calmness about himself, some poise playing in that type of situation, with 63,000, I thought he handled himself well.”

Should Dobbs be forced to miss any time Dormady looks like the leader in the clubhouse to handle those responsibilities, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to play meaningful minutes as a true freshman for a team with expectations of competing for the east crown.
