NFL Mock Draft 2015 First Round: Where will Marcus Mariota fall?
Dec 6, 2014; Atlanta, GA, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Landon Collins (26) during the 2014 SEC Championship Game against the Missouri Tigers at the Georgia Dome. Mandatory Credit: Kevin Liles-USA TODAY Sports.
The safety last year showed he is a hard-hitter at 6’0″ 228 pounds, and he also picked up three interceptions. Collins is the type of player who can be all over the field, and he will be a perfect addition to the Colts. He has shown he can do it all, and literally the only question to have about him is whether or not he benefitted because he played in Nick Saban’s defense loaded with surrounding talent.
However, Alabama defenders tend to work out pretty well in the NFL overall, and Collins is another one you can trust. He could help the Colts immediately, and against receivers like the ones on the Patriots, he can hit them pretty hard given that they are all a bit soft, and he is smart enough to understand some of their complex routes. After all, Saban’s defense can be complex.
He would not back down from big guys like Rob Gronkowski either.

Landon Collins
Strong Safety, Alabama Crimson Tide
The Indianapolis Colts certainly showed against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship last year that they desperately need some help in the secondary. After all, Tom Brady threw for four touchdowns after the non-deflated balls were put back in the game.
The Colts had a Top 15 defense overall but got to play six games against AFC South teams, all of whom had terrible quarterback play. Against playoff offenses with healthy quarterbacks, they need a playmaker who is tough. Landon Collins of Alabama is just that.
