There are two types of players you should always be cautious of: players who played at Alabama and offensive guys who starred in Lane Kiffin’s system. Cooper fits both categories. That’s not to say that coming from either of those makes you automatically bad, but it does mean that you were surrounded with so much talent or you were in such a stats-racking pro-style offense that your performance could be skewed.

Cooper is a good receiver who could become a star in the right system, but Kevin White has an amazing upside. At 6’2″ 215 pounds, White is more athletic than Cooper, he is bigger than Cooper, and he is honestly more proven than Cooper. He may not have the same stats, but he spent all year bailing out mediocre West Virginia quarterbacks.

Ask Baylor how deadly White can be.

This is not to say that Cooper won’t be great. You can’t really go wrong with either, but for a young quarterback like Derek Carr, having somebody to throw it up to is very useful, and although White is not as crisp of a route-runner, he is great and going up and catching balls. That’s better for an inexperienced quarterback.
