player. 30.
The New York Jets could be the first team to take Marcus Mariota if the Titans don’t, but given that they will continue to focus on defense and physical play, Mariota is likely to fail there. They don’t have a cutting-edge mind in Todd Bowles or Chan Gailey to be able to tailor Mariota’s skill set to the NFL.

So for starters, they should try to reshape the offensive line. Avoid defense altogether.

Brandon Scherff is the next guy in a long list of Iowa offensive linemen to be a superstar in the NFL> He had absolutely no help from his quarterback or his skill players this past year, but he anchored a line that was able to carry the offense just enough to another bowl game.

The 6’4″ 319 pound tackle was well-deserving of the Outland Trophy as the nation’s best interior lineman in college football last year, and he is a great starting point for the Jets offense.

Yes, they still have Geno Smith, but a good rule of thumb in the draft is not to pick any quarterback just because you need one. If you’re rebuilding, you can get other players and take the quarterback in a draft in which a good one is available. Or you can find a steal in the later rounds.

For the Jets, Scherff is a can’t-miss prospect that might make Smith look a lot better next year anyway with more protection.
. Offensive Tackle. Iowa Hawkeyes. Brandon Scherff. 6
