Eric Rowe – Utah

Eric Rowe was garnering some first round consideration among draft pundits in the weeks leading up to the draft, but this is about where he deserves to go. Rowe is a versatile defensive back that can play corner and safety, which is valuable to teams. Some actually thought he might be the Packers pick at the end of the first, but they opted for safety/cornerback hybrid Damarious Randle from Arizona State.

Every team could use another corner, and Rowe is a good one. I expect to hear his name early in the second round. The Oakland Raiders could use especially use another corner, so they are a team to watch.

Rowe is very impressive physical specimen. He’s 6’1”, over 200 pounds, and runs a 4.45 40-yard dash. Most scouts gave him a second round grade, so don’t expect him to last long. He can knock receivers off the line of scrimmage and mirror them down the field. He’s more of a press corner, which may limit him scheme-wise.

Teams to watch for: Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina Panthers
