Gene Chizik: Mace Windu

Mace Windu was a well-respected Jedi Master that nobody ever thinks about. Gene Chizik is a national championship-winning coach that nobody ever thinks about.

Chizik was fired because he could never sustain success without Cam Newton and appeared to make lots of idiotic decisions.

Windu was killed because he made the idiotic decision of hesitating to destroy Emperor Palpatine when he had the chance. Doing that converted Anakin Skywalker fully to the dark side and gave rise to the Galactic Empire all at once.

Perhaps, though, this is unfair. Windu built up major qualifications to be an elite Jedi Master, while Chizik hardly had any qualifications.

However, they are also intertwined in other questionable decisions.

Chizik was in the heart of the Newton scandal when he went to Auburn. Windu, meanwhile, was in the heart of the terrible decision to put Anakin Skywalker on the Jedi Council only so he could spy on Palpatine. That decision only further severed Anakin’s trust with the council.

With these terrible miscalculations, it becomes fair to put these two in the same sentence.

At the same time, however, their accomplishments are ones that should not be ignored just for the heck of it.
