The success rate of Ducks quarterbacks is 0 percent since the Chip Kelly system was implemented, and Mariota is not the first one to be hyped up. Remember Darron Thomas? What about Jeremiah Masoli? Oh, and don’t forget Dennis Dixon.

Even before this cutting-edge offense, you had failures and busts like Joey Harrington, who went third in the 2002 NFL Draft.

Simply put, Oregon’s system makes quarterbacks flourish, and that will be the case this year, regardless of who the starter is. The Ducks, after all, do have 15 returning starters, which is a pretty good number.

And Mark Helfrich has proven he can coach. So there should be no problems with this football team this year, even without their overrated Heisman Trophy winner from last year.

Whether or not this team repeats as Pac-12 Champions and gets back to the College Football Playoff will have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Mariota’s departure. He will not be missed for one second.

Oregon Ducks Marcus Mariota

Last week: 13-2 (7-1) 2014 Record
Last rank: No. 2 (Final AP Poll)

The Oregon Ducks lost a future bust to the NFL who will make the Tennessee Titans look stupid for believing in him. As we have known about this football program for a while, the quarterback does not make it.

It makes the quarterback.
