This one was obvious. And it is going to be epic.
The only team to beat last year’s college football national champion beat them on the road and gets to host them at home this year. That is what is going on here and what will happen on Monday night opening weekend.
Ohio State is already the hyped up team on everybody’s list to repeat as champions.
And Virginia Tech is off of everybody’s radar. But the Hokies beat the Buckeyes on the road last year. This year they not only get them at home. They also get a Buckeyes team that we are not yet sure is as good as they were last year, and in all likelihood the Hokies could be much better than last year.
So despite being a revenge game for Ohio State, could they overlook Virginia Tech again? Possibly.
And that’s another huge reason to watch this game. Also, just seeing the Buckeyes begin their national title defense against the one team that beat them last year is a perfect setting. They could consider it unfinished business and say the title won’t be complete without the revenge.
Or they could get caught napping again, this time on the road.
Either way, it’s a must-watch game.
