Chris Petersen’s return to Boise State is one thing. Jim Harbaugh’s return to the NFL is on a much higher level.

Harbaugh’s return to Michigan was exciting enough. Now, knowing that the Michigan Wolverines will play their season-opener on a Thursday night before the main wave of Saturday games and likely on national television, they were already generating significant hype.

To do it against the Utah Utes, a Top 25 team that beat them last year and will allow them a chance for revenge in the season-opener, will only add to the magnitude.

On top of all that, how the Wolverines perform against the Utes will give us a solid indication of how far away they are from where they will eventually be under Harbaugh. It is also a great chance for Utah to see where it is and if it can take another step in the Pac-12 after competing for the Pac-12 South Division Title last year.

If the Utes win convincingly, we will know a lot more about them. This game is a good indicator for success on the season and just exciting because it is Harbaugh’s return to college.
