He has tremendous talent and the ability to get to the quarterback and with Louisville losing both of their starting ends to the NFL Draft, he should play his way into the starting lineup in the fall.

Fields is the best of the three transfers to play for Louisville but if he, Wiggins and Harvey-Clemons live up to their billing, the Cardinals defense could once again be one of the best in the ACC.

Devonte Fields

DE, Louisville

It’s been a long time since Devonte Fields looked like a future superstar and potential first round pick when he was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year as a true freshman in 2012 when he had 18.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. An injury the next year limited him to three games and a series of off-the-field incidents resulted in his dismissal from TCU after the 2013 season.

Fields could have entered the NFL Draft in 2015 but after playing at Trinity Valley C.C. transferred to Louisville where he’s going to play for Bobby Petrino who is taking full advantage of his second chance with the Cardinals.
