Breakthrough Player: Dijon Paschal

He may be caught in a cluster of receivers as Fredi Knighten spreads the ball around, but Dijon Paschal could add some serious mustard to his profile this year.

Paschal was a freshman last year and caught 37 passes for 642 yards and four touchdowns, good for second on the team in receiving. He joins two other receivers who had more than 600 yards receiving, and the other two will be seniors this year.

But Paschal has by far the most potential as a receiver on the outside despite only being 6’1″. In the loss to Louisiana-Lafayette, the measuring stick for any Sun Belt team, Paschal had eight receptions for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

He also had a decisive touchdown in the epic win over Utah State.

Paschal came through in the biggest games of the year, which will mean a lot more going forward as a player and is definitely something everybody following Arkansas State can look forward to.

Going into this year, the coaching staff, fans, and Knighten are all more likely to be very excited about Paschal’s potential, so watch them look his way a lot more. And watch his stats spike as a result.
