Ole Miss Rebels

Kesha-Tik Tok

To their credit, the Ole Miss Rebels have done a lot to diminish just how wrong the Rebels nickname is. They got rid of Col. Rebel and replaced him with the Rebel Black Bear, and they have done their best to stop the glorification of the Confederacy.

But the nickname still exists, so here is the perfect solution. Make Rebels be more about people who like to ignore the rule of law and do party things, the way a teenager thinks of being a rebel.

All of a sudden, Kesha’s “Tik Tok” makes perfect sense. She is out the door and doing all the things to put herself together while people are all on her. Why?

So she can get tipsy. She won’t stop, she wants her speakers blown up, she is hoping to get into a fight, and she doesn’t want to end any of this until the sun comes up. Take that society!

And she is prepared for the police to shut her down. What a rebel!

See? It’s the perfect fit, and it’s why Ole Miss should embrace it. Heck, it’s a party college with all the fraternities anyway. And that’s a party song.
