Breakout Player to Watch: Jamal Turner, Wide Receiver
A former Rivals four-star, Jamal Turner has clearly been a bust up to this point. But as a fifth-year senior going into this year with a new, pass-friendly system, the 6’1″ 190 pound stud should finally emerge as a major force for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Turner has all the skills to be a major receiver, and there is no reason to expect he can’t be right there with the other three guys making huge plays, potentially standing out among them. That is a tall task seeing as how two years ago he barely had over 100 yards on the season.
But he showed promise with more than 400 yards after his sophomore season, and when healthy, the talent is clearly there. Riley should be able to utilize him better than he has ever been used before, and while it is indeed a risk to call a fifth-year senior a breakout player to watch, this is just a gut feeling.
It could be at the beginning of the season of midway through the season, but Turner could very quickly win over the Nebraska fan base as a senior with a few very good games. And that is exactly what should be expected of him.
Because of that, he is our breakout player to watch for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
