Southeastern Conference

Predicted Matchup: Georgia Bulldogs vs. Auburn Tigers
Likely Winner: Georgia
Playoff Implication Scale: Very High (Win and In)

In the SEC, the only thing that could be better than a rematch of Georgia-Auburn in the SEC Championship game would be a second Iron Bowl. Since the latter can’t happen, we’ll settle for a repeat of the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.

  • Both the Bulldogs and Tigers are looking to find an answer at quarterback. Both of them have exceptional running games (in different schemes) and both of them are breaking in a new coordinator. The Bulldogs under first year offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, and the Tigers trying to solve their defensive woes under new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp.

You have to pause for a moment anytime you pick someone other than Alabama to win the SEC West, but they are ripe for the picking this year. Auburn could have another huge turnaround season.

Over in the East, Georgia will finally break the curse of Mizzou, and can let Nick Chubb lead them to the promised land. Name to watch – tight end Jeb Blazevich.
