The SEC Will Be Shut Out of the National Championship Game Again

In 2013, the SEC lost a national championship for the first time in the BCS era. In 2014, the SEC didn’t even get there. Things won’t get any better in 2015 for the former dominant force of college football.

Yes, the SEC is still great and still has a leg up on other conferences in many ways, but there is nowhere near as much separation between them and the top teams in other conferences as there once was. The SEC will have a team in the playoffs, that’s almost a given, but like last season the national semifinal is as far as they’ll go.

It won’t be Alabama, since there will be a new SEC champ this year, so possibly we’ll hear more of a “hey, we’re just happy to be here” sentiment coming from whatever SEC team is represented. We have Georgia predicted to win the SEC, and certainly that and a playoff berth would make the Bulldog Nation ecstatic.
