Florida State Will Not Be in the ACC Championship Game

Going back to our list of conferences that will not have repeat champions, the ACC will be one of those, and defending champion Florida State won’t even have the chance to girt up for battle. They’ll be out of the ACC Championship game for the first time since 2011.

They were lucky to win a number of games last season even with Jameis Winston (despite his flaws, he was still a damn good college football quarterback), and this season they’ll be starting at life without their enigma of a quarterback.

Losses on defense and (I can’t believe I’m saying this) a fairly tough schedule that includes Miami, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Clemson and Virginia Tech, will have the Seminoles in a tough spot. They’ll still contend in the ACC Atlantic Division, but they won’t have the gas to win it this year.
