Cardale Jones Will Not Finish 2015 as Ohio State’s Starting QB

Assuming Cardale Jones wins the starting quarterback job at Ohio State, which seems to be the overwhelming opinion right now, he’ll have a tough time holding that job the entire season.

  • No, I’m not wishing a series of QB injuries on the Buckeyes…goodness knows they had enough of that. I’m just saying the Cardale novelty will wear off.

Hats off to Jones for coming in when his team needed him most — the three biggest games of the season — and leading the Buckeyes to a national title. However, keep in mind that Jones was an unknown. Even teams as good as Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon need some time to discover a quarterback’s tendencies and weaknesses.

As the season progresses, Jones will find he’ll surprise fewer defensive coordinators and will become more predictable as he’s forced into situations. Eventually he’ll be pushed by J.T. Barrett and Braxton Miller, until Urban Meyer will be pressed to make a change.
