2015 Will Set a Record for Mid-Season Coach Firings

With the playoff system comes more pressure for the coaches. Rather than just having to be one of the best two teams, now you only have to be one of the best four, and if you can’t do that then you might find yourself on that proverbial hot seat.

Several coaches escaped firings last season but are already on their final notice. If by mid-season things aren’t looking good you’ll see a whole crop of firings happening all over the FBS.

I doubt we’ll be lucky enough to see the mythical sideline firing (although a couple of coaches are pushing that one) but we will see a record number of early terminations and interim coaches taking over, and some of them will be at big name programs.
