No. 3: Tim Couch – Kentucky Wildcats

Draft Year/Round: 1999/1st Round (1st overall)
Drafted By: Cleveland Browns

We probably could have filled this list with just quarterbacks drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the last 20 years…but unfortunately the list was limited to 10.

So much for that idea.

But, Tim Couch is yet another in a long and distinguished line of quarterbacks sent to the lakeside to revive the pitiful Browns. Couch had impressive statistics during his 3-year stint at Kentucky, and despite never really compiling much of a W-L record (he went 12-11 as a starter with the Wildcats), he set tons of passing records and had everyone convinced he was the next great NFL quarterback.

That very well may have happened had Couch not ended up on his back for most of his four years in Cleveland, and he didn’t seem to be able to raise the level of talent around him. A case of big fish in a little Kentucky pond? Perhaps.
