Everyone knows about Jim Harbaugh, good or bad, as he is one of the most entertaining coaches in college sports.

Harbaugh is known for his miracle-working at Stanford, but before that, he was winning big with the San Diego Toreros in the Pioneer Football League. Harbaugh left the Toreros in 2007 to take the head coaching job at Stanford, a team that won only won game in 2006.

Harbaugh slowly built up the Stanford Cardinal until 2010, when his Cardinal lost only one game all season, and were able cap off the season with a blow-out win over Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl. That off-season, Harbaugh left Stanford for the San Francisco 49ers, where he served as their head coach for four seasons.

Harbaugh was wildly successful in the NFL, making it to, or past, the NFC Championship game three times in his four-year NFL head coaching career. Harbaugh didn’t mesh well with the pro guys, and because of this, he is once again gracing us with his presence in the college ranks, coaching his alma mater, the Michigan Wolverines.

John Beilein, however, has been coaching in the college ranks for a long-time. At the age of 62, Beilein is entering his 34th season as a college basketball head coach. Beilein has climbed the college coaching ladder since 1982, when he served as the head coach of the Nazareth Golden Flyers.

Beilein has been at Michigan since 2007, and when he arrived in Ann Arbor, things weren’t so great for Michigan’s basketball program. In Beilein’s tenure, however, things have changed.

His Wolverines have made five appearances in the NCAA Tournament, with a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014 and an appearance in the National Championship game in 2013. Last season, however, Beilein’s Wolverines failed to make any post-season tournament, as Michigan finished the season at .500.
