Second Season for Top Program Coaches

Some of the most visible programs in the nations have coaches entering into their second season, and this year results will be on top of the list.

Charlie Strong at Texas, James Franklin at Penn State, Bobby Petrino at Louisville, Steve Sarkisian at USC, Brian Harsin at Boise State, Chris Peterson at Washington and even Derek Mason at Vanderbilt are all going to begin feeling the pressure of delivering more W’s and less L’s on a yearly basis.

With the exception of possibly Vanderbilt and Washington, these are all programs that have become accustomed to winning and being in contention to win their respective conferences, and these coaches will need to see that steps in the right direction are happening or their tenures will be short-lived.

The most intense pressure will be on Strong, Franklin and Sarkisian, all of whom had underwhelming coaching debuts for their schools last season. Year two will see a much less forgiving attitude from fans and the media.
