At the time, the Miller injury was still a hot topic and the Barrett was an unknown commodity and he didn’t inspire a lot of confidence in this game. Barrett completed only 9-of-29 passes that night and threw three interceptions.

Ohio State would be fine and Barrett turned himself into a Heisman candidate after that, but this year’s season opener will be a completely different game from last year’s. Ohio State will be looking to avenge last year’s loss and run the score up on the Hokies and send the message they’re out for a second title.

Ohio State @ Virginia Tech

Blacksburg, VA, Non-Big Ten

These two schools have played each other only once when Virginia Tech won 35-21 in Columbus to give Ohio State their only loss of the season. The loss didn’t mean much in the end as the Buckeyes were able to win the title, but the loss was one of the more befuddling losses of the year.
