Championship: No. 5 Auburn vs. No. 1 Alabama

Even in our science experiment the Iron Bowl decides the division. The tiger comes in after defeats of a tiger (that’s not a typo) and a bear. The elephant had a first-round bye due to winning the division last season. This is a difficult one to predict, and I have a feeling that no matter which way this one goes I will get angry tweets from half of the state.

Tigers are intimidating creatures and have the claws to attack. However, the sheer size of an elephant means he can withstand some punishment as well as inflict punishment of his own. There is also the fatigue factor. The tiger has already gone through the gauntlet of the other tiger and a bear. The elephant wins in a fight that goes the distance.

Science aside, Auburn has been the media darling of the off-season. During SEC Media Days Auburn was picked to win the entire SEC. Some of it is due to quarterback Jeremy Johnson’s play in limited action. This includes his performance against Arkansas where he threw for 243 yards in one half.
