Simply, it was the greatest offensive season in Mississippi State history – a single player had never accounted for more than 3,000 yards before Prescott amassed more than 4,400. But most importantly, Prescott led the Bulldogs to the first No. 1 national ranking in school history, ten wins, and a New Year’s Six bowl game last season.

However, Prescott is one of just seven total starters who return to Starkville in 2015, including only three that had a hand in his breakout 2014 offensive performance. There’s talent – specifically hulking wideout De’Runnya Wilson – but the Bulldogs must rebuild their offensive line and find a replacement for workhorse running back Josh Robinson. That means Prescott will likely take more hits both as a runner and as a passer.

MSU has already been designated as the most likely team to finish last in the SEC West, and should something happen to Prescott, they might not make it to a bowl game – something that hasn’t happened since 2009.

Dak Prescott

Quarterback, Mississippi State

This one is easy. Dak Prescott isn’t just the most important player on the Mississippi State roster, he’s more important to his team than anyone else in the league.

As a junior, Prescott threw for 3,449 yards and 27 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. He added 986 rushing yards and an SEC-best 14 touchdowns on the ground and became a mid-season Heisman candidate.
