Miami at Florida State- October 10th

This might just to turn out to be a tough test for Florida State in the early part of the season. It’s no secret that these two teams don’t like each other in any way, shape, or form. This storied college football rivalry added another exciting one to the record books last season, the ‘Noles managed to edge out the Hurricanes 30-26.

Florida State vs Miami is one of the most intense, exciting rivalries in college football, many times coming down to a missed field goal or a mistake to decide the victor. Miami leads the series with 31 wins, but after 5 straight victories, the ‘Noles are hot on their heels with 28 wins. Often times in the past, this game would have significant national title implications, as both teams would come into the game highly ranked. Florida State vs Miami in 2006 remains the most viewed college football game in ESPN history.

The game takes place in the early part of a difficult stretch for the ‘Canes, who boast one of the toughest schedules in the country. The end of the season didn’t go as planned for Miami last season, they dropped their last four games of the season to finish the season a disappointing 6-7. As if they needed any more motivation for a game against their arch-rivals, Miami head coach Al Golden will be fighting for his job all season long. What better way to take yourself off of the hot seat than a statement victory against your schools’ biggest rival?

Miami will be coming hard and fast for the ‘Noles, this game will be Everett Golson’s opportunity to show that he can be a good quarterback when the pressure is on. This game will be a great opportunity for some of the fresh-faced Seminoles to make their mark and show what they can do. Florida State will need all of their playmakers on hand for this game.
