Florida State at Georgia Tech – October 24th

The Ramblin’ Wreck of Georgia Tech will square off against the Florida State Seminoles for the 25th time in their history. The ‘Noles sport a 14-9-1 series lead over the Jackets, and are in the middle of a two-game win streak over Georgia Tech, including a narrow 37-35 victory over them in last season’s ACC title game.

This match up might prove to be the most difficult game for Florida State the entire year. The Yellow Jackets won 11 games last season, including a bowl game victory over Mississippi State. Their option offense carried them to the second ranked rushing attack in the nation last season, averaging 342 yards on the ground per game.

On top of that, the Jackets boasted the No. 12 scoring offense in the game last year, with an average of 37.9 points per game. Head coach Paul Johnson will be looking to take advantage of the fact that Florida State struggled with their run defense at times last year. To make it even more difficult, the game will be played at Bobby Dodd stadium.

Georgia Tech will be Florida State’s biggest test in the first half of the season, and Fisher will be looking at this game closely to measure what he has on defense in terms of run stoppers, and will also be looking to the offense to see who can make plays on offense with a hostile environment around them. A win here might just prove to the nation that Florida State deserves to be in the college football playoff conversation.
