Florida State at Clemson – November 7th

Two weeks after their showdown with the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech, the ‘Noles will head to Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina for a showdown with the Clemson Tigers.

This rivalry started in 1970, and proved to be an even match up in the early going – until Florida State managed to rattle off 11 straight victories from 1992 to 2002. Florida State vs Clemson boasts some incredibly exciting games, and the rivalry gave birth to one of the greatest plays in college football history, the game-deciding “puntrooskie” ran by Leroy Butler in 1988.

That victory dashed Clemson title hopes, as the then ranked No.3 Tigers fell to the No. 12 Seminoles. As it stands now, the ‘Noles lead the all-time series 20-8, including a nail biter in Tallahassee in September of last year.

In the wake of Taj Boyd leaving for the NFL, the Tigers had a bit of a quarterback shuffle going on last year. Despite that, the Tigers found a way to win 10 games last season, including a bowl game beat-down over the Oklahoma Sooners in the Russell Athletic Bowl.

The Tigers and their stingy defense (No. 3 in the nation last year in points against) will be looking to avenge their overtime loss from last season and the embarrassing rout at the hands of Jameis Winston the year before, in hopes of snapping the current three game win streak the ‘Noles have over the Tigers.
