Allen started the final five games of the season and led the Aggies to three wins, including a 41-38 upset over No. 3 Auburn in his first and only road start. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound signal caller was the MVP of the Liberty Bowl after throwing for 294 yards and four touchdowns and running for another score against West Virginia. He finished the season with 1,322 passing yards and completed 61.5 percent of his passes, including 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Yet Allen faces stiff competition from incoming five-star Kyler Murray, who comes in as the nation’s top rated dual threat QB. At 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, Murray lacks Allen’s ideal size, and as a true freshman that did not enroll early for spring practice, he obviously lacks Allen’s experience and knowledge of Texas A&M’s offensive system. However, Murray is an exciting playmaker that never lost a game as a starter in high school.

Expect Allen to start the season opener against Arizona State, but expect Murray to keep the competition tough all season – which will only help the Aggies.

Quarterback, Kyle Allen or Kyler Murray

Yet another quarterback competition that has yet to be decided, Texas A&M has two of the nation’s most talented options to choose from in 2015.

Sophomore Kyle Allen arrived in College Station prior to the 2014 season as the nation’s top rated pocket passing prospect and the Arizona native nearly beat out Kenny Hill for the starting job. After a midseason slump and some off-field trouble, Hill lost hold of his job and eventually transferred.
