Now, college football fans could be getting in on the training camp documentary experience with Notre Dame in negotiations with Showtime to have a similar show, according to FootballScoop.

"“Sources tell FootballScoop that executives from Showtime and Notre Dame hope to finalize an agreement in the next 48 hours under which Showtime will immediately begin filming Notre Dame’s 2015 training camp experience, with the goal of producing the first of a dozen episodes beginning the Tuesday, Sept. 8, following the Fighting Irish’s season opener versus Texas.”"

So this is awesome.

Notre Dame has the look of a potential College Football Playoff team with 17 returning starters from last year’s 8-5 team and head coach Brian Kelly is one of the more media savvy coaches in the game, so this would be must-see tv, especially for fans of the Irish.

UPDATE: Showtime will air A Season with Notre Dame Football beginning on Sept. 8.

“We’re honored and thrilled to be granted access to profile a college football program with a legacy as storied and as fascinating as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish,” said Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Showtime Sports, via CBS Sports. “The passion of the players and head coach Brian Kelly will make for a compelling television series that will appeal beyond hardcore college football fans to all viewers who appreciate great storytelling.”

There will be 12, 30-minute episodes that air on Tuesday nights with the first airing on Sept. 8.

It should not only be a financial windfall for Notre Dame but also for Showtime who can use this program to compete with HBO who begins their five-episode run of this season of Hard Knocks featuring the Houston Texans.
