The Kentucky Wildcats have shown tremendous growth under head coach Mark Stoops, both in recruiting circles and on the field. Unfortunately, after starting 5-1 last season, the Wildcats suffered through a six-game losing streak and missed the postseason for the fourth consecutive year.

This season, the Las Vegas odds makers think Kentucky will get that elusive sixth win and put an end to that streak of bowl-less winters. However, though the team is more talented overall, the Wildcats lost two of their most talented players in defensive ends Bud Dupree and Za’Darius Smith and the schedule is tougher this year than it was in 2014.

Kentucky should go at least 3-1 in non-conference games with the biggest hurdle being the annual clash with in-state rival Louisville. UK should beat Vanderbilt and Mississippi State is also beatable, but both games are on the road and wins won’t come easy. The Cats will likely be underdogs in the other six games.

A push is the most likely result, though UK will likely need to score an upset over Florida or South Carolina to get it done. Another game to watch is a Thursday night matchup with Auburn – a prime spot for a Tigers trap game. Still, the under is the best play.
