Following a disappointing 7-6 campaign in 2014, there’s not much optimism for South Carolina outside the Gamecocks’ football facilities. And when he’s not dealing with constant questions about his future retirement, head coach Steve Spurrier is answering questions about a lack of experience on offense, and specifically the unsettled quarterback position.

Of course, there are also a few questions surrounding a defense that ranked near the bottom of the SEC in scoring defense (No. 12, 30.4 points allowed per game), rush defense (No. 13, 212.2 yards per game), pass defense (No. 10, 250.5 yards per game) and total defense (No. 13, 437.2 yards per game). Six returning starters, a handful of talented newcomers and new defensive play-caller Jon Hoke will help.

The non-conference schedule is tougher than most with a neutral site game against North Carolina in Week 1 and ACC favorite Clemson on the back end. UCF is no cakewalk, either.

Yet despite all those concerns, have faith that Spurrier will right the ship. Expect South Carolina to win the six games they are supposed to, plus beat LSU at home and score an unexpected victory on the road from either Georgia, Missouri, Texas A&M or Tennessee. Take the over.
