The Will Muschamp era has come and gone in Gainesville. Now, new head coach Jim McElwain aims to take Florida back to the glory years of 11-win seasons and SEC championships instead of the most recent two-year stint in which the Gators had just 11 wins combined.

Florida still has as much talent as anyone, especially on defense, but it’s wise to keep expectations modest for McElwain’s first season. The former Alabama offensive coordinator and Colorado State head coach will likely help the Gators improve upon their 367.6 yards per game average from last season (which ranked No. 12 in the SEC and No. 93 nationally), but with big questions at quarterback and on the offensive line, don’t assume Florida is in for a major turnaround offensively in 2015.

Aside from perennial power Florida State, the non-conference schedule is manageable. And, with the departure of Jameis Winston and several other important pieces, even the Seminoles are beatable in The Swamp. Unfortunately, the SEC schedule is as tough as always with road trips to Missouri, LSU and South Carolina and a cross-division matchup with Ole Miss at home.
