Derrick Henry will be a huge part — or maybe the only part — of the Crimson Tide offense this season, and Nick Saban will depend on Henry to keep the Tide in a lot of ball games. He’s one of the best tailbacks in the nation, so that’s a pretty good lean-to.

  • Why Henry won’t win it:

With so much expected of Henry this season, it’s going to be tough for him to avoid injuries and to stay fresh throughout the year. Alabama doesn’t exactly have the deepest stable of running backs in 2015, which means the bell cow will be leaned on a lot.

If he stays healthy through November, he’ll have very little left in the tank by the time Alabama gets to Mississippi State on Nov. 14 and then Auburn on Nov. 28 (with Charleston Southern sandwiched between), and those are the games that Heisman voters will be watching carefully.

They’ll need a strong Derrick Henry to make it through those last few weeks, which means the possibility of sacrificing his overall stats for some rest earlier in the season.
