Pac-12 Football: Preseason all-conference defense
Cornerback: Ishmael Adams, UCLA Bruins
The UCLA Bruins are the favorites to win the PAC-12 South this year, and a big reason is the secondary. In 2014 the Bruins were fifth in the conference in defensive pass efficiency despite tying for eighth place in sacks. The pass rush was mostly dormant, but the defensive backfield still made plays. Adams had two separate interceptions returned for touchdowns last season and was named to the first team ALL-PAC-12 squad. Combined with fellow corner Fabian Moreau, opposing quarterbacks better bring their “A” game when they visit Los Angeles in 2015.
Cornerback: Adoree’ Jackson, USC Trojans
The USC Trojans had the second best defensive pass efficiency in the conference last year, and the play of the above mentioned Su’a Cravens and Adoree’ Jackson was a big part. Jackson, a freshman All-American last year, is a phenomenal athlete and is giving Trojan fans hope that the program has finally found their lock-down corner of this generation. In 2014 Jackson was used mostly on defense, but in 2015 USC plans to use their star sophomore in all three phases of the game. Jackson will play cornerback, return kick-offs and punts, and have some special plays installed for him on offense. Overall, look for a special year from the Trojan defender.
