Rawleigh Williams III

Remember my reference to the 2010 Wisconsin team previously? Here’s another eerie similarity. James White was a freshman in 2010. White racked up over a 1000 yards and 14 touchdowns his freshman year behind two upperclassmen. Could that be what’s on the horizon for the three-star Dallas, Texas native? It’s highly possible.

Williams was recruited out of Bishop Lynch High School by Joel Thomas and Jim Chaney for the 2015 class. He enrolled at Arkansas back in May and has been able to be apart of the summer workout program with the rest of the team.

It was theorized by several close to the program that Williams would have possibly received a redshirt going into this season but that was before Juan Day suffered his second ACL injury. Now, however, running backs coach Jemal Singleton feels that Williams has progressed faster than anticipated which would translate to seeing some time on the field this fall and that was before Williams was even injured.

How Williams stacks up against SEC caliber defenses has yet to be seen and, in fact, the caliber of competition Williams played against in high school has come into question on more than one occasion. He basically dominated the teams he played against week-in-and-week-out as you can see in the video above. I wouldn’t expect anything less from an SEC caliber running back recruit and if he continues to make the most out of his opportunities, as he has during fall camp, then the sky is the limit.
