John Chavis and defense are synonymous. Just look at him. His face has defense etched on it. He’s put together some of the stingiest defenses in the nation at Tennessee and LSU, and now he’s going to see if he can’t fix the train wreck at Texas A&M.

Chavis was one of the innovators of the zone blitz scheme, and can turn practically any talented defensive back into a legitimate ball hawk. His defenses are complex and can be difficult to learn, and he recruits at a high level everywhere he goes.

The Aggies have been known for some high-powered offense since joining the SEC, and if Chavis works just a little bit of his magic in College Station, there could be a serious race for the SEC West crown this season.
