Why is Dave Wommack so high on this list? Call it gut instinct, but the Ole Miss Rebels are for real (on defense, anyway) and may field the nation’s best defense in 2015.

When was the last time Ole Miss was known for playing defense? Has it been, ever? Since taking over in 2012, Wommack lifted the Rebels up to the No. 13 total defense in the nation (up from 90th in 2011), and the No. 1 scoring defense (up from 96th).

But the huge advantage Wommack gives the Rebs is his recruiting ability. Along with head coach Hugh Freeze, they’ve been able to lure some of the nation’s best defensive talent to Oxford, and the list just keeps getting longer.

Count on a lot of programs calling on Wommack when the 2015 season is over.
