SEC Football: Five Most Anticipated Games of 2015 Season
David Manning-USA TODAY Sports
October 17: Missouri at Georgia
In the words of DJ Khaled, all Missouri does is “win, win, win.” Yet, in nearly all the discussions about the best teams in the SEC they are missing. Blame it on being the new kid in the conference and Missouri’s geographical difference with its southern brethren. Missouri has been in the SEC for three seasons and reached the SEC Championship game the past two seasons. Just like most off-seasons, Georgia is in the conversation as one of the teams that can win the SEC. Will this finally be the year? This game will give us a clearer picture of whether they will even be able to win their division.
The Tigers hope to gain revenge against Georgia who handed Missouri their only SEC loss of the 2014 season. Many would put one of Tennessee’s marquee games here and it certainly would be no surprise if this is the year that the star-studded recruiting classes finally pay off for the Volunteers.
However, it has been Missouri not Tennessee or Georgia who have played in the SEC Championship game the past two seasons. Missouri is one of the few SEC teams to return their starting quarterback, Maty Mauk and should take advantage of avoiding the top teams of the SEC West this season. They avoid playing Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Ole Miss. A victory against Georgia would contribute to another December trip to Atlanta for the Tigers.
