SEC Football: Five Most Anticipated Games of 2015 Season
Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports
November 28: Alabama at Auburn
I tried really hard to avoid listing this game. It’s cliche, but to not list it would be downright negligent. It is hard to imagine a scenario where it does not at the very least play a part in deciding who wins the SEC. If things go as planned, this game will help determine which of these teams will head to the College Football Playoff.
Alabama won last season’s matchup 55-44 in a game that looked more like a weird, late night Pac-12 shootout than a traditional SEC rivalry game. Auburn projects to be better this season and Alabama seems weaker than a season ago. All this could lead to another close, entertaining Iron Bowl.
The Crimson Tide return most of their starters from last year’s defense, but will be starting a lot of fresh faces on offense. The uncertainty at quarterback seems to always sort itself out for Nick Saban but one has to wonder if this is the year it finally catches up to Alabama. ESPN ranks Alabama’s schedule as the toughest in the country.
In addition to playing in the difficult SEC West, the Crimson Tide head to Athens this season to play Georgia. That being said, if Alabama continues their success this season no one will be surprised. That would not make it any less impressive. Chances are either Alabama or Auburn will be in the mix to win the SEC West heading into this game.
