Aiming to protect potent quarterback Brad Kaaya, on Monday it was announced who would be starting on the Miami offensive line.

Monday, Miami Hurricanes offensive line coach Art Kehoe named who would be starting on the offensive line. Joining the Joe Rose Show, Kehoe gave the list of who will be given the job of protecting rising quarterback Brad Kaaya.

Left Tackle: Trevor Darling

Left Guard: Alex Gall

Center: Nick Linder

Right Guard: Danny Isidora

Right Tackle: Sunny Odogwu

This may be a challenge for this group as they only have 22 starts between themselves, and Gall and Odogwu have never started a game. Breaking it down further, Darling , Gall, and Linder are sophomores, while McDermott  is trying to rebound from a knee injury  he suffered in a September 27 contest against Duke.

Odogwu appeared in nine games last season and struggled with committing penalties, and taming his emotions while on the field. However, he has improved in that area by leaps and bounds, as his teammates told Al Diaz of the Miami Herald.

Despite the youth and relative inexperience of this particular group, Kehole likes what his troop brings to the table.

“Our group is really, really jelling,’’ Kehoe said. “They understand what coach [Al] Golden has been reinforcing since January — that we’re going to have a deep team, that we’re going to have competition, and we’re going to get to know each other.

“I hate to sound like old school, but I love this team that we’re coaching, and I can’t wait to play a game.”

Protecting Kaaya will be crucial if the Hurricanes want to climb back to prominence.  Last season, he threw for 3,198 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, providing a weapon for Miami on offense. Last season, the program ranked No. 48 in the country with 249.9 passing yards per contest.

It will be interesting to see how this group will do in protecting Kaaya and what kind of struggles, if any they will face as many of them will be gaining  experience on the fly.
