The team that wouldn’t go away…the little engine that could…the big bad BCS buster Boise State. Put them in a Fiesta Bowl and they’re practically unbeatable, but outside of that, they still aren’t ready to compete on a weekly basis with the big boys.

Full props to Boise for putting together one of the most consistently solid programs in the nation, but until they stop pussyfooting around in conferences like the Mountain West and join a Power-5 league, nobody is really going to believe this is a title-contending program.
Having individual success against Power-5 opponents is one thing, but being in a conference with them and playing them every week, having them learn your tendencies and schemes, is a whole different color of turf.
Despite a slew starters returning, and a defense which brags four All-Conference selections, Boise State will still be lucky to finish the season as a ranked team in the new playoff system of rankings. Strength of schedule will kill them every time.
