6. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Observers inside and outside the Nebraska program attest to an air of class and positive attitude non-existent during the Bo Pelini regime. Mike Riley is a much different Sheriff. He leads with controlled confidence and an old-fashioned brand of people skills. All this good will may not add up to the usual nine wins under the testy Pelini. The Husker faithful may need to start the honeymoon plan in evaluating their new head coach.

The schedule is challenging with non-conference dates vs BYU, South Alabama and Miami, FL. The Huskers outmuscled and outclassed the Canes in Lincoln last year, but a more mature Brad Kaaya may be a tougher out in South Florida. For a third straight year Nebraska draws Michigan State from the East. The Huskers furious fourth quarter rally in East Lansing last season fell short 27-22. Nebraska enjoyed an easier time vs Rutgers in 2014 with a 42-24 win. The Scarlet Knights visit Lincoln on November 14.

Pelini’s undoing was Wisconsin from Day 1 and Minnesota the last two years. Riley and company host the Badgers on October 10 and the Golden Gophers on October 17.
