Bret Bielema, Arkansas get taste of karma after trolling Ohio State’s schedule

Bret Bielema got a taste of karma after the Arkansas head coach complained about Ohio State’s schedule and then was promptly upset by unranked Toledo.

Maybe you should only be concerned with your own team and not worry so much about Ohio State and how many ranked teams they have remaining on their schedule.

Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Bret Bielema ruffled some feathers as he’s been known to do when he remarked about the defending national champion Buckeyes schedule that only features one ranked opponent compared to eight for the Hogs.

As karma would have it, Bielema and his Hogs overlooked an unranked Toledo team from the MAC who came in to Little Rock and upset the No. 18 team in the nation, 16-12.

Arkansas had trouble running the ball today as they only had 54 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries from Alex Collins and couldn’t take advantage of red zone opportunities. Brandon Allen continues to put up big numbers with 412 yards passing on the day, but it wasn’t enough for Arkansas who may have been guilty of reading too much of their press clippings after an offseason full of praise and hype.

This isn’t a season-ending loss for Arkansas but perhaps the preseason hype about this team was too premature, certainly after losing leading rusher Johnathan Williams to a season-ending injury before the season started.

Arkansas not being able to run the ball, is a new problem for this team who is built to run the ball, but without Williams and Collins not taking his game to the next level, this looks like a team not quite ready to compete for an SEC west title.

In fact, they are still closer to the basement in the west than the penthouse.
