Ryan Finley was pressured most of the game and didn’t get in much of a rhythm. He did complete a nice pass that receiver Chaz Anderson dove to catch, and he made some other good throws. Boise State didn’t seem to do well on third downs, going just 2-12. BYU went 8-18 and converted the only fourth down try that ended up giving BYU a lead that the Cougars held onto for the win. The game was closer than the 35-24 score indicated.
Boise State can regroup as they return home to face Idaho State. Following that, the team goes to Virginia, who is sneaky good.

Boise State Broncos (L vs BYU 24-35)
Last week: 1-1 record
Last rank: 1
Boise State came into the game at BYU will some momentum. Quarterback Ryan Finley had a nice first start against the Washington Huskies. The problem with his first road start was that it was against BYU, likely the toughest opponent that the Broncos will face all season long. It showed, as the two were in a tight game from the beginning.
Boise State’s secondary made some good plays, such as when Donte Deayon snatched two interceptions. For a time, BYU’s receivers were not much of a factor once BYU decided to keep with the running game. But on a few key plays the safeties and cornerbacks didn’t play back far enough on the receivers, and got burned. This happened on the first drive of the game for BYU and throughout the game.
