Loser: Nebraska and Texas Fans

Two of the most storied programs with the most passionate and loyal fan bases are the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Texas Longhorns. Both programs are struggling right now, and fans are just looking for a sign that things will get better.

Goodness were they teased on Saturday night.

Nebraska fought back from a 27-3 deficit, scoring 23 points in the fourth quarter to tie the Miami Hurricanes, only to have quarterback Tommie Armstrong throw an ill-advised pass that was intercepted in the Huskers’ first overtime possession. Nebraska fell 36-33, and Husker fans are still in shock.

A similar tale of woe came out of Austin, Texas, where the Longhorns put on their best offensive performance in nearly two seasons, and matched the high-powered California Golden Bears by scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter…it was going into overtime until Texas placekicker Nick Rose missed the PAT, and left Longhorns fans gasping for air after a week that sucked the life out of them.
