Few would deny that Charlie Strong is a quality college football coach and top recruiter. I, for one, said that Texas probably wasn’t the best fit for Strong’s personality and style. With a new AD coming in, and results having been pretty poor up to this point, Strong has to be concerned about the new guy wanting to insert his own choice of coach.

Games like last week’s heartbreaker lost on a missed extra point won’t help his resume with the new boss.

There won’t be a big rush, as the powers at Texas will undoubtedly make the AD search a thorough one, so Strong will have some time to right the ship and at least start winning some big games. For now, Strong is pretty safe, but if the Longhorns get blown out in Week 4, watch out for those coaching change rumors to start flying.

Texas won’t tolerate losing for too much longer.
