Steve Spurrier – South Carolina Gamecocks

2014 Record: 7-6
2015 Record: 1-2
Seat Temperature: Very warm

Let’s be honest here, it’s not likely that anyone is going to outright “fire” Steve Spurrier, but that doesn’t make his job safe.

It’s hard to understand how the Gamecocks could have fallen so far, so fast. From three straight 11-win seasons, to a barely above .500 year and now an 0-2 start in SEC play. The 52-20 drubbing by Georgia was a signal to many that this may not need fixing, it may need a fresh start.

You can bet your visor that Spurrier has already heard the “maybe you should call it a career” speech from more than one South Carolina alumni, and they aren’t wrong about that. Sometimes it’s just time to quit, and that may be now for the Head Ball Coach.

If Spurrier wants to convince the people who matter that he can still coach this team, he’ll need to win convincingly against 0-3 UCF this week, and take care of getting a conference win against Missouri in two weeks.
